NLP has been appointed by the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) to undertake an assessment of how the evidence base on employment land across the East Midlands performs against the requirements of new PPS4 and implications of the recession.
The study, which is the first comprehensive review of employment land evidence since publication of the new national policy statement, will provide a strategic understanding of employment land availability across the region and an appraisal of the extent to which the existing evidence is fit for purpose in guiding the spatial planning priorities of the Integrated Regeneration Strategy (IRS).
NLP Senior Associate Director, John Robertson, said: “Our work will identify examples of best practice in carrying out employment land assessments, and provide a regional framework for future work by local authorities. It is vital that robust evidence on the demand and supply of employment land is established across a region with a multi-dimensional and changing economy and many complex geographical linkages.”
