The new canopied streets will offer a Tesco Extra store, comparison shops, restaurants and cinema, providing integrated routes and spaces through the expanded primary shopping area. The regeneration scheme will deliver a physical and economic ‘step change’ to the centre’s retail offer fulfilling it’s strategic role and deliver over 2,000 permanent jobs.
NLP Director, Steven Butterworth commented ‘The Tesco team is delighted to receive planning permission. It represents a major milestone towards the reinvigoration and regeneration of one of the UK’s weakest strategic centres at a time of economic recession’.
NLP had a long standing involvement in the project giving evidence at the CPO Inquiry and advising on the relocation of Eaton Valley School and the Police Regional Command Unit.
