Bristol City Football Club is a major step closer to developing their new stadium at Ashton Vale. Following success with Bristol City Council, NLP has now secured North Somerset Council's support for the main access to the stadium at it's Planning & Regulatory Committee on 26 May 2010. Planning permission was granted subject to a legal agreement and referral to Government Office due to its Green Belt location.
NLP was appointed by a joint venture to advise on planning and EIA matters across this complex site which is split across the two local authority areas.
NLP Director, Nick Thompson, commented; "We are delighted with North Somerset Council's decision which is a significant step forward. Members agreed that the proposals would have a limited impact on the Green Belt and the Transport Assessment and Travel Plan (led by WSP Development & Transportation) are robust and provide effective mitigation. Given that the main application in Bristol was not called-in, we are of course optimistic that the Government Office will not take a different view regarding these limited access works and allow the Council to issue the planning permission".
